This side event would show case the recent initiatives and preliminary outcomes of innovative studies and the possible science based interventions for conservation and sustainable use of Himalayan bio-resources and ensuring the well-being of humans living in the IHR.  Professional inputs will be provided by India’s key scientific institutions in the following thematic areas. These include discussions on:   Himalayan ecosystem dynamics, anthropogenic impacts, management of invasive alien plant species, vulnerability assessment, and long-term monitoring in changing climate in the IHR GB Pant national Institute of Himalayan Environment & Sustainable Development (GBPNIHESD)   Impacts of climate change on faunal species and their habitats, and management of negative human-wildlife interactions (conflicts) in the IHR Wildlife Institute of India (WII)   Molecular characterization and long-term monitoring of floral and faunal diversity in the IHR for bio-resource management and conservation Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) & Botanical Survey of India (BSI)
